MELISSA LOOKBOOK

LOOKBOOK
2023

Jelly Days is an independent lookbook concept for Melissa’s Possession sandal. I developed the art direction and editorial layouts around the product’s translucent material, bold colours, and different ways of wearing it. The 16-page book brings together styling, product photography, and expressive typography within a consistent editorial system.

ART DIRECTION
I built the imagery around saturated colour, playful poses, and simple geometric sets. Outfit photographs show the sandal in context, while close-ups draw attention to its woven straps, buckle, and transparency. I directed and selected AI-generated imagery to create a shared visual language across individual looks, group photographs, and product compositions.
EDITORIAL DESIGN
I structured the book to move between full outfits, colour options, and product details. Oversized headlines establish the pace, while consistent margins, captions, and page numbers connect the spreads. On the cover, typography passes in front of and behind the model, introducing the layered approach that carries through the book. Contrasting image scales give each section its own composition while keeping the sandal central.

REFLECTION
Developing Jelly Days made me think more carefully about the relationship between art direction and editorial pacing. The strongest spreads pair a clear graphic gesture with space to see the product. Working with AI-generated imagery also required close attention to product consistency, particularly the sandal’s straps, buckles, and transparency. A printed proof would be the next step to assess colour, image quality, and how the layouts behave across the fold.
